Mother says she is not a hero for turning-in son
CTV.ca News Staff
A Toronto mother's decision to have her son arrested
after she found an assault rifle in his bed has people
calling her a hero and her son saying thank you.
"It's like a fireman saving someone from a burning
building, they don't feel like a hero," the woman
who cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal
Justice Act said.
On Thursday Police Chief Bill Blair called the
woman "courageous."
"I think she demonstrated real care and love for
her child," Blair said. "I can imagine it was a very
difficult thing to do."
The teenager was reportedly furious with his
mother at the time of the arrest. However,
the boy has since called home to thank his mom
for preventing a horrible tragedy.
