STAFF REPORTER
Lawyers representing Omar Khadr say the U.S.
government will violate international laws
protecting the rights of children if the Canadian
teenager is tried for war crimes.
They have asked UN Secretary-General Kofi
Annan to intervene in the case.
Khadr, 19, is scheduled to appear next week
before a military tribunal in the U.S. naval base
in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba to enter a plea on a
charge of murder.
