growing up in Multicultural communities.
They are Discovering other cultural
backgrounds, and Getting a different
perspective on Prejudices, regardless
of the disapproval of Parents and
grandparents.
This diversity in culture creates fear
and defensive attitudes in older family
members who are striving to
protect their cultural traditions and values.
The fear that their children will begin to join
with those from different races, and create
Shrinking in their ethnic community. Interracial
dating creates potential challenges
that could destroy your relationship. Many
people disapprove of interracial mixing, so be
prepared for the worse. Shocked or negative
reactions from friends, relatives and from
certain public places may happen.You don’t
need to limit yourself to your own
culture when it comes to dating, but you
should be aware of possible difficulties that
may be faced before committing yourself.
Will Different Religions Stand the
Test of Time?
Dating someone of your own religious
background is less complicated. The family
celebrations and get-togethers are less tense
and more fun. Religion is another big issue
that tears families apart. While I cannot tell
you how and what to chose, it is important that
couples discuss how they will face the problems
that may arise.
Hiding or lying to your family and friends is not
the answer. If you need to hide your partner or
date from your family and friends the
partnership is doomed before it has begun.
Be truthful to family members. It saves a lot
of headaches and hurtful moments later.
