bullets fly on Toronto's Yonge St.

One killed as bullets fly on Toronto's Yonge St.
CTV.ca News Staff
As many as seven people were wounded in a series of

brazen Boxing Day shootings on Yonge Street
north of Dundas in the heart of downtown Toronto's shopping district.
The shootings happened about 5:15 p.m. near Yonge

and Gould, with hundreds of people on the streets.
One victim, a woman who had been standing in the

doorway of a Foot Locker store, had no vital signs after
being shot in the head.
Another person in the same doorway was also shot.
Other victims were at the Delta Chelsea hotel, a nearby

Pizza Pizza and a Red Lobster restaurant.
Two of the most seriously wounded were taken to nearby

St. Michael's Hospital where they are in critical condition.
At least other one victim, a 15-year-old with a bullet wound

in the leg, was taken from the Eaton Centre area by ambulance
to Sunnybrook Hospital.
The rest of the victims appeared to be in their late teens or
early twenties, except an off-duty police officer who was
also struck in the leg.
It's not known at this point if the victims were targeted,

or if some of the people were victims of random gunfire.
One witness, who would only identify himself as Vikram
said the shots rang out from a passing BMW that had
two men leaning out the windows with guns.
"People were screaming," he said.

"Everywhere in the shop they were down on the floor."
Toronto Police arrested two suspects at the Castle Frank

subway station. A firearm was seized at the arrest.
Emergency vehicles were crowded around the shooting

scene, and three blocks of the street were cordoned off
with yellow police tape.
The busy downtown area, popular with tourists and close

to the Eaton Centre and Dundas Square, was also the
site of two other shootings this year -- one in July,
the other in April.
There have been 78 murders in Toronto this year,

including a record 52 by gunfire.

Do you think a banned gun
was used?
SOME ONE DID NOT TELL THEM GUNS WERE
BANNED BY OUR PRIME MINISTER?
