Marriage is not a game.
It is a serious commitment that is entered
into and the choice of your mate ensures its
success. Partners who have annoying traits
before marriage will not change them.

Here are a few amber lights:

Partners with past addiction problems
may be fulltime maintainance. Will they
be able to handle the rigors of a full
married life and to deal with problems that
may arise? Ie. Sickness, financial and
relationship issues. Do you have the energy to
pick up the slack?

Partners who do not want your children of a
previous relationship to be apart of your new
relationship. Stepchildren who are not ready to
commit can create havoc in your new relationship.

Partners with prior unsuccessful marriages,
May not be ready to commit. Have their emotional
baggage followed them? Have they gone for some
counseling? Are you ready for that risk?

Partners with secrets that begin to come out
slowly,and when you least expect them can be a
rude awakening. Some secrets can destroy trust.
Marriages are built on trust.

Partners who have had past affairs within the
sanctity of their marriages, can create doubt
and insecurity in
yours. Have you talked about this?

A partner who is constantly avoiding serious
discussions and resolve issues may not be ready
for a responsible position in a marriage.
Avoiding problems do not make them go away.
