STICKS AND STONES

Years of Bullying, teasing,
and hazing are the cause
of some school violence
and school shootings today.
Our parent’s method of shouting

back- “sticks and stones may break
my bones but words may never hurt
me” is not a suggested method to
use these days.
Bully’s now use sticks, stones,

hammers, knives and guns stc,
Bullies are attention getters.

They travel in groups or with a
friend for their own protection
and ego.
If you act scared, they know.

Be strong and keep your head up.
Don't back down.
Don't be violent back!
Stand up for yourself.
Be proud of who you are!
Don't step down to their level!
Notify the proper authorities

immediately before it goes any
further.
Some suggested techniques ?
Do they work?

1. Make Friends. Treat the bully
as a friend instead of an enemy.
A: Is this wise what happens if they
expect you to join their gang.
HMMM
2. Refuse to Fight. The winner of the
fight is the one who avoids it.
A: This could even you’re your life.
Fighting my son told me once is
not worth it. Even if you win they
may turn around and stab you with
a knife later.
3. Stand up to Bully. Stick up for
yourself. Just say "No!" to bullying.
A: It may be wise to stick in a large
group of kids that are also bullied.
There is power in numbers as
bullies all know. Ignore your
aggressors and do not use the
group as an attack force but use
it as a defense
4. Scream/Yell. A powerful shout

can end conflict before it starts.
A: Yes this will bring people to
you quickly and hopefully an adult
will summarize the situation and
diffuse it.
5. Ignore the Threats. Be like a
tree - bend with the wind.
A: How long can you do this before
anger and resentment takes over
and you yourself ACT OUT.
The police then will not look for
reasons that caused this.
6. Use Authority. Call the proper
authorities to help you.
A: NOW This is the best and most
likely plan. Tell adults and people
in authority. Have them bring in
help.
Psychologist and whatever that will
do lectures and counsel the offender.

WHAT CAN PARENTS DO?

Parents if possible filed an
anti-harassment order on your
child’s behalf.
To think this problem will go away
is irresponsible parenting. This is
not a case of “ let him stand up
and face the real world for a change”
In the real world, people do not

kick each other's butt...they are
supposed to use the law for relief.
The bully's parents must be aware
of what their son is up to.
Bullying and peer abuse is not a

normal part of growing up. Chances
are like in the case of Vancouver
teen Reena Virk, your child may
not grow. She desperately tried to
fit in and was murdered because
she did not meet the requirements
OF THE AVERAGE TEEN.
It is vital that kids be taught to

respect others instead of abusing
each other for fun. These values
of respect need to be taught early
in life.
Remember, your children looks up
to you and depend on your skills
as a parent to help stop peer abuse.
