They need the patience of family
members and friends as they heal.
The family and friends may not
know how to express their sorrow.

understand why the healing
process is so long.
The rape victim will goes through
a series of recovery stages
following the incident.

experiences disbelief and shock.

them. Some victims are scared
of being alone, other relish being
locked away.

swings, emotional breakdowns or
rages of anger, nightmares or
insomnia and lastly depressions
which may last for days

on the victim, and he or she has
feelings of uncleanness.
They will avoid relationships and
even the thought of intimacy
scares them
Eventually when the person
begins to accept the rape.
Then this is when things
will begin to get better and they
are able to move on.
Each person and the length of
healing is different
