DOES DADDY WEAR SIZE 14 SHOES?

ORANJESTAD, Aruba (CNN) —
Aruban authorities investigating the
disappearance of Alabama teenager
Natalee Holloway are looking for a pair of
size-14 tennis shoes that suspect
Joran van der Sloot might have lost, a
police official said.
"He says he might have lost a pair of
sneakers on the beach the night Natalee
disappeared," said lead police investigator
Roy Tromp. "That's what he claims in one
of his many statements."
Tromp said the 17-year-old suspect described
the shoes as white and blue and brand new.
"He claimed he lost them in the area of
Fisherman's Hut, but we [are] looking at
other places, including the pond," he said.
The pond was drained last week after a
witness said he had seen Van der Sloot
and two other named suspects -- brothers
Satish and Deepak Kalpoe -- nearby.
Authorities said Saturday they found
nothing in the pond.
Fisherman's Hut is an area of a beach near
the Marriott and Holiday Inn hotels.
Holloway was staying at the Holiday Inn.
She was last seen May 30 leaving a bar
with Van der Sloot and the Kalpoes, all of
whom live on the island. All three were
arrested June 9, but a judge ordered the
Kalpoes released on July 4.
No one has been formally charged in the
teen's disappearance.
In one of multiple versions the three have
told police about what happened that night,
they said they left Holloway at a beach
near Fisherman's Hut.
Police told CNN they don't know whether
Van der Sloot is telling the truth, but they
are now asking the public's help to look
for the shoes to assist with their
investigation.
They did not explain why they are now
making the search public.
Van der Sloot is expected to be questioned
again Tuesday, this time by Dutch
investigators who are behavioral specialists,
according to police.
Authorities said Van der Sloot will be
transported from the prison where he is
being held to a police station for the interview.
Police on Friday night used searchlights
and cameras on the ground and from the air
to look at areas of interest under the
remaining water in the pond.
The search yielded nothing, authorities said.
On Saturday morning, divers searched one
spot in the middle of pond, but came up
with nothing.
Police have again downplayed a witness
who came forward a few days after
Holloway's disappearance and claimed to
have seen what could have been the body
of a woman being dumped at a landfill.
Police said the vehicle described by that
man was not there that night or in the
surrounding days. In addition, they said,
authorities searched the area twice and
found nothing.
Nevertheless, they support another search
of the landfill by a private group.
EquuSearch, the Texas-based volunteer
group conducting that search, has moved
25,000 to 30,000 square feet of garbage,
one of its members said.
The group will return to the landfill
Tuesday with three to six donated bulldozers,
he said.
Holloway, an 18-year-old honors student
from suburban Birmingham, was in Aruba
with classmates to celebrate their high school
graduation when she disappeared.
Her mother, Beth Holloway Twitty, has
returned home to Alabama after spending
about two months in Aruba during the search
for her daughter.

Re: Joran's Police Statement
- June 14th, 2005 - From Diario 05/08/06
[handwritten:] June 14th Deepak had said
that I have left my shoes at the Marriott Hotel.
Deepak told me not to worry, because he'd
pick the shoes up tomorrow for me.
I had left a pair of white with blue shoes of
the brand "K-Swias" [sic], size "14" on the
beach. These shoes I bought in the United
States What I also could mention is that
during the drive Deepak told me that he
was free the next morning that he didn't
have to go to work. I told Deepak that I did
have school and that I was tired. I was left
on May 30th, around 3:45 am at my house
by Deepak. During exiting the car I asked
him if he was going to go online. Deepak
told me yes. Furthermore I had told him
that I would call him the next day. I had
asked Deepak if he could pick up the shoes
that I had left on the beach. Deepak told
me that he would pick up the shoes
inmediately. Then Deepak drove away.
In this lie,
(This is lie #3 of Joran's to police, right?),
he even details a phony conversation between
himself and Deepak during the drive home.
Here he has Deepak going back "immediately"
to get his shoes.[handwritten parallel
alongside the margin:] June 29th When I
was picked by Satish around quarter to
three (02:45am) I was barefoot. I went to
sit in front, next to Satish. I don't exclude
the possibility that I had sand on my feet.
Definitely did white sand from my feet stay
behind on the floormat of the Honda.
I had left my shoes (sneakers) on the beach.
I had told Satish where I had left my shoes
(sneakers). Now the blame is pointed at Satish.
Notice the major time differences in his
two stories. No matter which story he tells,
or to whom, there is 1 hour missing from
that night.I heard that the suspect told me,
in short, without being aksed: -That he
didn't expect such an interrogation that
he had just experienced -That he had
expected that the interrogators would
have a division of roles, where one of
them would be friendly and the other
unfriendly -That he found the media
attention for the case that he was held
for was excessive -That there were more
important matters -that the attack in
England was real news, but that after
the day of the attacks the Natalee case
was again the main news -that he conciously
isn't going to run for journalists and
phtographers because that would make
the case only worse -that he heard from
his lawyers that it wasn't a smart choice
to wear a pair of sunglasses during a
transport, where he was photographed
-that his lawyers weren't happy with the
fact that at the opportunity that was
photographed with a pair of sunglasses
he was also photographed smiling in
the car -that he thought that I, De Ruiter,
spoke a lot -that at the moment of the
conversation he was wearing K-Swiss
from a cellmate that had borrowed
him these. These first two statements
tell me that daddy did in fact coach
Joran on what to expect, and how to
behave.[handwritten]: August 2nd Suspect
was aksed to take off one of his shoes.
Suspect looked around and wanted to look
for support in his lawyer, but this one
didn't look at him and continued to write
He put this [the sneaker] after an urgent
request with a bang on the table.
Interrogators asked him then why he
was wearing on the day in question
K-Swiss size 14, while he was
wearing now shoes size 10.5
Affter the suspect had put on his shoes, I,
interrogator de Ruiter, pressed on the nose
of his shoes and felt that the toes of the
suspect were straight and well fit into
the shoe. Suspect didn't react further
Around 11.30 the interrogation finished.
[handwritten:] August 8 2005
Joran never answered the question
about his true shoe size?
Never answered why he claimed to
have worn a size 14 shoe that night?
