Paul Gillespie has stepped down as head of the
Toronto police sex crimes unit after six years
at the helm as Canada's best-known
child-pornography cop.
Since he joined, the 20-person unit has become
a leader in combating child pornography on
the Internet.
Gillespie retired Thursday, he said, in part
because of the emotional toll of seeing
thousands of images of children being
sexually tortured.
But he vowed to continue his fight against
online child porn by setting up an international
centre to train police to fight online child abuse.
Are Judges actually punishing these abusers
to the maximum? Too many times we have
seen the abuser being released again and again
as more and more children become his victims.
