The Winnipeg family of a second woman who died
mysteriously during a visit to Punjab is pushing for
Canadian officials to investigate.
Jagjit Kaur, 34, left Canada with her husband in
January 2005 for a family wedding.
Ten days later, she died of poisoning, according to an
autopsy.
Her brother said he decided to go public about his
sister's death after reading a story about the Department
of Foreign Affairs looking into another woman's
suspicious death during her visit with in-laws in Punjab.
Last week, 21-year-old Rani Sandhu died three days
after arriving in Punjab for a holiday with her husband,
Amandeep Sandhu, and their daughter.
Her husband told her relatives in Winnipeg that she had
died of a heart attack, but her body was cremated
before an autopsy could be conducted.
Now, the young woman's cremated remains are with
Indian police, her husband and daughter are nowhere
to be found, and her family fears they'll never know
what happened.

The Hindi Times reported Sandhu's family has accused
Punjab cops of attempting to "hush up" the case under
pressure from a former congress minister who is a
close relative of her father-in-law, Charnjeet Sandhu.
"Every girl travelling to India should be aware of the
dangers," said Sekhon, who wants to know how many
women have died while visiting their in-laws.
All women should be monitored and made to sign in
once a day in India or have an emergency number to call!
