The Jane Austen novel "Pride & Prejudice" has been
filmed for television in recent years, but a movie version
hasn’t been made in 65 years. Wow. I’ve heard of scripts
in Hollywood going through development hell, but that’s a
bit much. The good news is that director Joe Wright,
working from an adapted script by Deborah Moggach,
has delivered a new version of the classic with wit, charm
and, most important, Keira Knightley. Naturally, there is a
lot of upper-class English accents, tea-drinking, 18th-century
costumes and impeccable manners.
But beneath it all lurks enough passion and ambition to keep
us all busy for the next 65 years until the next adaptation
comes out. (Focus Features, opens Friday)
One of my favourite books- cant wait to see the movie
