— you have intense cravings for it.
You are drawn to use the drug again and again
regardless of the potentially negative social,
psychological and physical consequences..
When you stop taking it, you may have unpleasant
physical reactions.
Not all people who use drugs becomes addicted,
but many do. Certain drugs, such as narcotics and
cocaine, are more likely to cause physical dependence
than are other drugs.
Breaking a drug addiction is difficult, but
not impossible. Support from your doctor,
family, friends, as well as inpatient or
outpatient drug addiction treatment,
may help you beat your drug dependence.
General signs and symptoms
Some general characteristics include:
1. Feeling that you need the drug regularly
or, many times a day
2. You stockpile it to maintain a supply of the drug
3. Failing repeatedly in your attempts to stop using
the drug
4. Doing things to obtain the drug that you normally
wouldn't do, such as stealing
5. Feeling that you need the drug to deal with
your problems
6. Driving or doing other activities that place you
and others at risk of physical harm when you're
under the influence of the drug

Because denial is often a characteristic of addiction, many
people who are addicted to or who abuse drugs won't seek
medical treatment on their own.
Like alcoholism drug addictions dont go away for ever.
Treatment continues for a lifetime and haveing good
counselling to prevent occurance is the best thing.
