Sexually transmitted diseases –
Also known as STDs and once called
venereal diseases or VD - are infectious
diseases that spread from person to
person though intimate contact. STDs
affect guys and girls of all ages and
backgrounds who are having sex
- it doesn't matter if they're rich or poor.
STDs are becoming more and more
common-
By the age of 21, almost one in five
Americans requires treatment for
an STD. Because teens are more at
risk for getting some STDs, it's
important to learn what you can
do to protect yourself.
STDs are more than just an
embarrassment. They are a
serious health problem which
if not treated could lead to other
problems that can cause permanent
damage, such as infertility -the
inability to have a baby and even
death HIV/AIDS is one of the STDs
that's on the rise in teens.
How STDs Spread
many people feel that to spread
STDs you need to have sexual
intercourse. That's wrong. Herpes
or genital Warts, can be spread
through skin-to-skin contact with
an infected area or sore. During
Oral or anal sex viruses or bacteria
that cause STDs can enter the body
through tiny cuts or tears in the mouth
and anus, as well as the genitals.
It is not easy to know whether
someone has an infection. In fact,
some people with STDs don't even
know that they have them. These
people are in danger of passing an
infection on to their sex partners
without even realizing it.
Some of the things that increase a
person's chances of getting an STD are:
-Sexual activity at a young age.
-Lots of sex partners.
-Unprotected sex. Latex condoms are
the only form of birth control that lessen
your risk of contracting an STD.
Spermicides, diaphragms, and other
birth control methods may help prevent
pregnancy, but they don't protect a
person against STDs.
Preventing and Treating STDs
As with many other diseases,
prevention is key. It's much easier
to prevent STDs than treat them.
The only way to completely prevent
STDs is to abstain from all types of
sexual contact.
People who are considering becoming
sexually active should get regular
gynecological or male genital
examinations. There are two reasons
for this. First, these exams give
doctors a chance to teach people
about STDs and protecting
themselves. And second, regular
exams give doctors more
opportunities to check for STDs
while they're still in their earliest,
most treatable, stage.
Don't let embarrassment keep you
from seeking medical attention for a
STD. Waiting too long could allow a
disease to progress and cause more
damage. If you think you may have
an STD, or if you have had a partner
who may have an STD, you should
see a doctor right away.
If you are embarrassed to see your
regular doctor, find a local clinic in
your area where you can get an
exam confidentially. Some national
and local organizations operate
STD hotlines staffed by trained
specialists who can answer your
questions and provide referrals.
Not all infections in the genitals are
caused by STDs. Sometimes people
can get symptoms that seem very
like those of STDs, even though
they've never had sex. For girls,
the vaginal infection bacterial
vaginosis can easily be confused
with both STDs and yeast infections.
Guys may worry about bumps on
the penis that turn out to be pimples
or hair follicles. That's why it's
important to see a doctor if you
ever have questions about your
sexual health.

SPOUSAL ABUSE
What is spousal abuse?
Spousal abuse is the deliberate
attempt by a partner in an
intimate relationship to control
or intimidate the other partner.
The couple may be married,
unmarried or the same sex.
What forms can spousal abuse take?
Abuse can be physical, psychological,
sexual or financial.
A person may experience more
than one kind of abuse. Some forms
of abuse are also crimes.
What would be included as physical
abuse?
Physical abuse can include hitting,
punching, slapping, pushing,
pinching, kicking, burning,
shooting, stabbing or cutting.
Physical abuse is legally known
as assault.
A person commits assault when
they intentionally use force or
try to use force against a person
without consent.
What would be included as
psychological or emotional abuse?
Psychological abuse can include
threats, constant criticism and
put downs, control
of activities, humiliation, name
calling, screaming at a person,
ignoring a person, control of
money, stalking, damaging
property, threatening to have
someone deported, and reading
another person's mail.
Some aspects of psychological
abuse are also crimes in Canada
such as stalking, damaging
property and making threats.
What kind of behaviour is sexual
abuse?
Sexual abuse is sexual activity or
sexual touching to which you do
not consent. This kind of behaviour
is a crime in Canada
and hopefully everywhere else.
What kind of behaviour is financial
abuse?
Financial abuse can include taking
your pay cheque, or withholding
money from you so that you have
no food or cannot get
necessary medical treatment.
These are crimes. Other forms of
financial abuse may not be crimes
but may contribute to emotional
abuse, such as controlling money
very tightly.
How common is husband abuse?
There is a continuing debate over
the prevalence and seriousness of
husband abuse. There does not seem
to be any question that the
problem exists, but there is a
general difference of opinion
as to how serious a problem it is
compared to wife abuse. The vast
majority of reported cases and
literature concerns men attacking
women. The balance of these
questions will therefore reflect
that emphasis, although the
information can be applicable to
both sexes.
Does wife abuse happen to one
particular kind of person more
than another?
No. Potentially wife abuse can
occur in any neighbourhood and
at any level of society.
Facts which are known about wife
abuse are as follows-
wife abuse is as common in rural
areas as well as cities
-wife abuse is common in high income
families as well as low income families
- wife abuse spans all ages, races and
nationalities, disabled women may also
suffer wife abuse
-wife abuse rarely happens as a one
time occurrence
-beatings are often severe so as to
require medical treatment
-wife abuse frequently occurs after
hours between 5p.m. and 7a.m.
and on weekends
-wife abuse always happens in private
places
-wife abuse often occurs during
pregnancy and often starts during
a first pregnancy.
Is there a particular kind of person
who is an abuser?
Abusers do come from every part of
society.
Certain characteristics of abusers have
been identified as being common,
for example-
-low self esteem poor communication
skills
-poor impulse control a strong need to
control a tendency to blame the victim
or other factors
( e.g. stress, alcohol, drugs) for
their violence.
How might someone tell if abuse is
going on in a family?
Abuse almost always occurs in private
so that it is hard to detect. There are
some signs that might indicate abuse is
going on such as-
-a track record of violence in the past
-a history of family abuse from when
spouses were children
-impulsiveness demonstrated by
-temper tantrums
- possessiveness, excessive
-dependence on spouse
-emotional immaturity rigid views of
men and women and their roles in
society problems with children
such as aggressive behaviour
-school problems
-night time problems
-physical complaints
-crying hopelessly or very little
-history of suicidal thoughts or
attempts substance abuse
I have been physically abused by
my husband for a long time.
I have thought about leaving
him but I have three children.
Should I stay for the sake of the
children?
The basic consideration has to be
the degree of risk that you and
your children face by staying in
the house. The risk can be the
risk of physical or emotional harm.
Studies have shown that living in a
violent household can affect the
well being and behaviour of
children adversely. A 1994
Juristat from the Canadian Centre
for Justice Statistics found that
children witness violence against
their mothers in almost 40% of
marriages with violence. Children
who witness violence may-
-feel frightened confused and u
nhappy
-behave aggressively feel
responsible for the violence
become depressed or even suicidal
exhibit self destructive
-accident-prone behaviour seek
punishment ( identified as love)
for behaviour such as lying or
stealing adopt rigid gender role
identification have night time
difficulties or physical complaints
My husband does not hit the children
but they sometimes see him hit me.
It does not seem to affect the children.
Are there any long term consequences
of them seeing him hit me?
It is extremely likely that there will
be long term consequences from
your children witnessing abuse.
Boys who witness abuse at home
are more likely to abuse their
wives or partners when they grow
up. Girls who witness abuse
are more likely to accept abuse
as a fact of life when they enter
into relationships. Children who
witness violence at home are
more likely to think that violence
at home is normal. Children should
be protected from abuse,
even when they are just witnesses.
My husband is physically abusive
towards me, but I do not feel able
to leave him. How can I better
protect myself at home?
If you feel that you cannot leave
an abusive situation at this point
in time you can still protect
yourself by considering the
following-
-tell a neighbour or friend to call
the police if they see or hear
anything seek medical
attention for any injuries.
You do not have to state who injured
you, but it is better for your treatment
if you tell the doctor how your injury
occurred.
-keep records about your injuries and
other times you are abused. make a
plan as to how you might leave and
where you would go.
-ensure that emergency numbers are
close to hand or memorised.
-educate yourself as to the legal
remedies you have in your province,
e.g. family violence laws which will
grant emergency orders
-criminal offences that your husband
could be arrested for
-support and custody laws.
-save some money if possible.
-do things to make you feel better
such as seek counselling or learn
new skills.
-consider persuading your partner
to seek counselling.
Who can I talk to about the abuse I
suffer at home?
Talking about your problem is very
important. Tell a friend, family member
or someone in your community.
Community members who will have
seen people in similar situations include
doctors, public health nurses, emergency
room nurses, social workers, private
therapists and women's shelter staff.
There may also be a distress line in your
community or a shelter which operates
a 24 hour help line.
I am going to leave my partner because
I cannot take the abuse anymore.
I am terrified that my partner will try
to stop me from leaving. How can
I leave safely?
If you are in immediate danger
from physical harm you can always
call the police and request attendance
at your home.
If you under no immediate physical
risk it is useful to make an safe escape
plan.
Things you can do include-
-consider where you will stay (friend,
relative, safe house, shelter, another
town or city)
-put some money away a little
at a time in a safe place.
-move out some things a little at
a time (e.g. clothing, credit cards)
-consider what you might take
for your children (e.g. favourite
toys or blankets, toothpaste, diapers)
-contact your local social services
or welfare office to find out what
benefits you might be entitled to.
-get legal advice about your situation
or educate yourself about the legal issues
that might affect you, e.g. custody,
support, protection orders,
restraining orders, property rights.
How can I protect myself at home
from harassing behaviour?
Some ways that you can protect
yourself at home include-
-screen your phone calls do not accept
unidentified packages identify people
before you open the front door
-keep your house well lit and keep
bushes outside small
-ask your phone company for details
of protective services
-keep emergency phone numbers
by your phone
-have a key ready as you approach
your house
-ask the police to do a home security
check
-consider changing the locks
-ask repair people for identification
-remove your name and address
from recycled mail

THE DATE RAPE DRUG.
What is the "date rape" drug?
The "date rape" drug is the common
name for Rohypnol, generically called
flunitrazepam. Rohypnol is manufactured
by Hoffman-La Roche and prescribed as a
sleeping pill in countries outside of the
United States. It is used as a short-term
treatment for insomnia, as a sedative
hypnotic and a pre-anesthetic. It has
physiological effects similar to Valium
(diazepam), but is approximately ten
times more potent. It is used also as an
illicit drug, often in combination with
other drugs, such as heroin, cocaine,
and alcohol.
Common names for Rohypnol include the
following:rophies, roofies, R2, roofenol,
Roche, roachies, la rocha, rope, rib, circles,
Mexican valium, roach-2, roopies, and ropies.
A similar drug is known as clonazepam
Klonopin in the U.S. and Rivotril in Mexico.
What does Rohypnol look like?
Rohypnol tablets are white, scored on one
side, with the word "ROCHE" and an
encircled one or two
(depending on the dosage) on the
other. They are sold in pre-sealed bubble
packs of one or two mg doses.
Rohypnol can often
be dissolved in a drink, and undetectable.
Is Rohypnol legal?
No, Rohypnol is not manufactured or sold
legally in the United States. However, it is
produced and sold legally by prescription
in Europe and Latin America. It is
smuggled into the United States by mail
or delivery services.
Who uses Rohypnol and how?
Rohypnol use has been reported on every
inhabited continent. It is often used in
conjunction with other drugs. It is usually
ingested orally, but can be snorted. Teen
use of Rohypnol is increasing. The most
common pattern of use is by teenagers and
young adults as an alcohol extender in an
attempt to create a dramatic "high" most
often in combination with beer, or as a
drug to incapacitate a victim before a sexual
assault.
Why has there been an increase in teen use
of Rohypnol?
First, Rohypnol is a low-cost drug, sold at
less than $5.00 per tablet.
Second, common misconceptions may
explain the drug's popularity with young
people:
many erroneously believe that the drug is
unadulterated because it comes in
pre-sealed bubble packs -- and therefore
tamper-proof and safe
many mistakenly think its use cannot be
detected by urinalysis testing.
What happens when you take Rohypnol?
What are the side effects?
Rohypnol intoxication is generally
associated with impaired judgment and
impaired motor skills and can make
a victim unable to resist
a sexual attack. The combination of alcohol
and Rohypnol is also particularly hazardous
because together, their effects on memory
and judgment are greater than the effects
resulting from either taken alone.
Effects begin within thirty minutes, peak
within two hours, and can persist for up to
eight hours. It is commonly reported that
persons who become intoxicated on a
combination of alcohol and flunitrazepam
have "blackouts" lasting eight to twenty-four
hours following ingestion. Disinhibition
(losing your social inhibitions) is another
widely reported effect of Rohypnol, when
taken alone or in combination with alcohol.
Adverse effects of Rohypnol use include,
decreased blood pressure,
memory impairment, drowsiness,
visual disturbances, dizziness,
confusion, gastrointestinal disturbances
and urinary retention.
Is Rohypnol addictive?
Yes. Rohypnol can cause physical
dependence. Withdrawal symptoms
include headache,
muscle pain, confusion,
hallucinations and
convulsions. Seizures may occur up to
a week after cessation of use.
Why is Rohypnol called
the "date rape drug"?
Rohypnol has been associated with date
rape, and has also been called the
"Forget Pill,"
"Trip-and-Fall," and "Mind-Erasers."
In combination with alcohol, it can induce
a blackout with memory loss and a decrease
in resistance.
Girls and women around the
country have reported being raped after
being involuntarily sedated with Rohypnol,
which was often slipped into their drink by
an attacker. The drug has no taste or odor
so the victims don't realize what is
happening.
About ten minutes after ingesting the drug,
the woman may feel dizzy and disoriented,
simultaneously too hot and too cold, or
nauseated. She may experience difficulty
speaking and moving, and then pass out.
Such victims have no memories of what
happened while under the drug's influence.
Are there other "date rape" type drugs?
Since about 1990,
GHB (gamma-hydroxybutrate)
has been abused in the U.S. for euphoric,
sedative, and anabolic (bodybuilding)
effects.
As with Rohypnol, GHB has been associated
with sexual assault in cites throughout the
country. Common names include,
"liquid ecstasy," "somatomax," "scoop,"
or "grievous bodily harm."
How can I avoid becoming a victim of rape
under the influence of Rohypnol or GHB?
Here are a few suggestions for staying aware
and alert:
Be wary about accepting drinks from anyone
you don't know well or long enough to trust.
If you are accepting a drink, make sure it's
from an unopened container and that
you open it yourself.
Don't put your drink down and leave it
unattended, even to go to the restroom.
Notify other females you know about the
effects of this dangerous drug.
If you think that you have been a victim,
notify the authorities immediately.

United States. It is used as a short-term
treatment for insomnia, as a sedative
hypnotic and a pre-anesthetic. It has
physiological effects similar to Valium
(diazepam), but is approximately ten
times more potent. It is used also as an
illicit drug, often in combination with
other drugs, such as heroin, cocaine,
and alcohol.
Common names for Rohypnol include the
following:rophies, roofies, R2, roofenol,
Roche, roachies, la rocha, rope, rib, circles,
Mexican valium, roach-2, roopies, and ropies.
A similar drug is known as clonazepam
Klonopin in the U.S. and Rivotril in Mexico.
What does Rohypnol look like?
Rohypnol tablets are white, scored on one
side, with the word "ROCHE" and an
encircled one or two
(depending on the dosage) on the
other. They are sold in pre-sealed bubble
packs of one or two mg doses.
Rohypnol can often
be dissolved in a drink, and undetectable.
Is Rohypnol legal?
No, Rohypnol is not manufactured or sold
legally in the United States. However, it is
produced and sold legally by prescription
in Europe and Latin America. It is
smuggled into the United States by mail
or delivery services.
Who uses Rohypnol and how?
Rohypnol use has been reported on every
inhabited continent. It is often used in
conjunction with other drugs. It is usually
ingested orally, but can be snorted. Teen
use of Rohypnol is increasing. The most
common pattern of use is by teenagers and
young adults as an alcohol extender in an
attempt to create a dramatic "high" most
often in combination with beer, or as a
drug to incapacitate a victim before a sexual
assault.
Why has there been an increase in teen use
of Rohypnol?
First, Rohypnol is a low-cost drug, sold at
less than $5.00 per tablet.
Second, common misconceptions may
explain the drug's popularity with young
people:
many erroneously believe that the drug is
unadulterated because it comes in
pre-sealed bubble packs -- and therefore
tamper-proof and safe
many mistakenly think its use cannot be
detected by urinalysis testing.
What happens when you take Rohypnol?
What are the side effects?
Rohypnol intoxication is generally
associated with impaired judgment and
impaired motor skills and can make
a victim unable to resist
a sexual attack. The combination of alcohol
and Rohypnol is also particularly hazardous
because together, their effects on memory
and judgment are greater than the effects
resulting from either taken alone.
Effects begin within thirty minutes, peak
within two hours, and can persist for up to
eight hours. It is commonly reported that
persons who become intoxicated on a
combination of alcohol and flunitrazepam
have "blackouts" lasting eight to twenty-four
hours following ingestion. Disinhibition
(losing your social inhibitions) is another
widely reported effect of Rohypnol, when
taken alone or in combination with alcohol.
Adverse effects of Rohypnol use include,
decreased blood pressure,
memory impairment, drowsiness,
visual disturbances, dizziness,
confusion, gastrointestinal disturbances
and urinary retention.
Is Rohypnol addictive?
Yes. Rohypnol can cause physical
dependence. Withdrawal symptoms
include headache,
muscle pain, confusion,
hallucinations and
convulsions. Seizures may occur up to
a week after cessation of use.
Why is Rohypnol called
the "date rape drug"?
Rohypnol has been associated with date
rape, and has also been called the
"Forget Pill,"
"Trip-and-Fall," and "Mind-Erasers."
In combination with alcohol, it can induce
a blackout with memory loss and a decrease
in resistance.
Girls and women around the
country have reported being raped after
being involuntarily sedated with Rohypnol,
which was often slipped into their drink by
an attacker. The drug has no taste or odor
so the victims don't realize what is
happening.
About ten minutes after ingesting the drug,
the woman may feel dizzy and disoriented,
simultaneously too hot and too cold, or
nauseated. She may experience difficulty
speaking and moving, and then pass out.
Such victims have no memories of what
happened while under the drug's influence.
Are there other "date rape" type drugs?
Since about 1990,
GHB (gamma-hydroxybutrate)
has been abused in the U.S. for euphoric,
sedative, and anabolic (bodybuilding)
effects.
As with Rohypnol, GHB has been associated
with sexual assault in cites throughout the
country. Common names include,
"liquid ecstasy," "somatomax," "scoop,"
or "grievous bodily harm."
How can I avoid becoming a victim of rape
under the influence of Rohypnol or GHB?
Here are a few suggestions for staying aware
and alert:
Be wary about accepting drinks from anyone
you don't know well or long enough to trust.
If you are accepting a drink, make sure it's
from an unopened container and that
you open it yourself.
Don't put your drink down and leave it
unattended, even to go to the restroom.
Notify other females you know about the
effects of this dangerous drug.
If you think that you have been a victim,
notify the authorities immediately.

THE SILENT CRIME!!!
RAPE, the "silent crime,"
Rape is the least reported of all crimes.
In fact, fewer than twenty percent of rapes
and attempted rapes are ever reported.
Many victims are silent because they are
ashamed. Others are so afraid - of their
attacker, or of being judged. Others are
simply too hurt or too angry to speak out.
More Public awareness is needed for
this "silent" crime. It means asking our
communities, friends and ourselves what
we can do as a team, to eliminate sexual
violence. We need to respond to survivors
in a way that enables them to heal and
regain control of their lives. Approximately
683,000 women and 93,000 men in this country
are forcibly raped each year. And the numbers
are rising EACH MONTH. Sexual assault
awareness means recognizing that rape is real,
and lives in our own backyards.
Finding the strength to talk to someone
- a friend, a relative, a counselor, anyone
- is the most important step in moving from
rape victim to rape survivor. I want people
to know that there are people who can help,
and services available for those who have been
sexually assaulted or know someone who has
been sexually assaulted. There are many
associations at our fingertips that deal with
this sort of thing. Put your Trust in them.
REMEMBER THIS IS NO LONGER A CRIME
AGAINST WOMEN ALONE.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING CANADIANS!

History and Origin of Canadian Thanksgiving
In Canada Thanksgiving is celebrated on the second
Monday in October. Unlike the American tradition
of remembering Pilgrims and settling in the New World,
Canadians give thanks for a successful harvest.
The harvest season falls earlier in Canada compared
to the United States due to the simple fact that Canada
is further north.
The history of Thanksgiving in Canada goes back to an
English explorer, Martin Frobisher, who had been trying
to find a northern passage to the Orient. He did not
succeed but he did establish a settlement in Northern
America. In the year 1578, he held a formal ceremony,
in what is now called Newfoundland, to give thanks
for surviving the long journey. This is considered the
first Canadian Thanksgiving. Other settlers arrived
and continued these ceremonies. He was later knighted
and had an inlet of the Atlantic Ocean in northern
Canada named after him - Frobisher Bay.
At the same time, French settlers, having crossed the
ocean and arrived in Canada with explorer
Samuel de Champlain,
also held huge feasts of thanks. They even formed
'The Order of Good Cheer' and gladly shared their food
with their Indian neighbours. After the Seven Year's
War ended in 1763, the
citizens of Halifax held a special day of Thanksgiving.
During the American Revolution, Americans who
remained loyal to England moved to Canada where they
brought the customs and practices of the American
Thanksgiving to Canada. There are many similarities
between the two Thanksgivings such as the cornucopia
and the pumpkin pie.Eventually in 1879, Parliament
declared November 6th a day of Thanksgiving and
a national holiday.
Over the years many dates were used for Thanksgiving,
the most popular was the 3rd Monday in October. After
World War I, both Armistice Day and Thanksgiving were
celebrated on the Monday of the week in which
November 11th occurred. Ten years later, in 1931, the two
days became separate holidays and Armistice Day was
renamed Remembrance Day.Finally, on January 31st, 1957,
Parliament proclaimed...
"A Day of General Thanksgiving to Almighty God for the
bountiful harvest with which Canada has been blessed
... to be observed on the 2nd Monday in October.

ARE YOU READY FOR MARRIAGE!!!

Marriage is not a game.
It is a serious commitment that is entered
into and the choice of your mate ensures its
success. Partners who have annoying traits
before marriage will not change them.
Here are a few amber lights:
Partners with past addiction problems
may be fulltime maintainance. Will they
be able to handle the rigors of a full
married life and to deal with problems that
may arise? Ie. Sickness, financial and
relationship issues. Do you have the energy to
pick up the slack?
Partners who do not want your children of a
previous relationship to be apart of your new
relationship. Stepchildren who are not ready to
commit can create havoc in your new relationship.
Partners with prior unsuccessful marriages,
May not be ready to commit. Have their emotional
baggage followed them? Have they gone for some
counseling? Are you ready for that risk?
Partners with secrets that begin to come out
slowly, and when you least expect them can be a
rude awakening. Some secrets can destroy trust.
Marriages are built on trust.
Partners who have had past affairs within the
sanctity of their marriages, can create doubt
and insecurity in
yours. Have you talked about this?
A partner who is constantly avoiding serious
discussions and resolve issues may not be ready
for a responsible position in a marriage.
Avoiding problems do not make them go away.
While these signs do not mean you should not go
Go ahead with your plans to marry. It certainly
means talk about them and deal with the issues
before you marry. If you are unsure how to bring
them up now, how will you be able to when you
are married?
Start off on the right foot!!!!!
IS IT TOO LATE?
Relationships have been a part of human existence since,
The beginning of time. From birth we depended on our
Parents- mother or father regardless of the family situation,
to care for our needs until we were able to care for
ourselves. Without them we would not have survived.
Over the many years relationships have not changed.
They can be vulnerable or secure and unless you lock
yourself away from people, you cannot escape it.
Even then a relationship will have to be built between
you and the person who provides you food and care while
you are locked away.
Special circumstances that occur in our life develops
our behavior patterns in relationships.
Marriage, the once answer to mating, procreating
and a long lasting loving relationship has failed us.
Marriage cannot repair relationship malfunctions.
Realistically how many marriages have you seen that
are perfect?
Marriage is not the end of a relationship.
It is the beginning. It is a new job that has to be
Maintained. It should not like worn underwear or holey
socks that is tossed away when it has served its time.
Many spouses have been killed and tossed away due to
a bad relationship. These are individuals we have
once claimed to love and promised to stand together
through good and bad times for the rest of their lives.
You can well ask what went wrong? The partner who
had proclaimed to have found his/her last long partner
and is still looking. What is wrong with this picture?
Is murder an answer? Isn’t divorce easier than a life
behind bars.
WE need to calm down, listen and speak to our spouses.
This advice can be given but there is no way of forcing
both partners to listen. The couple that works at it is the
One who stay together. It is times like this that shows if
You have chosen the right partner. One who shares your
Goals and Interests, and has the relationship in focus.
Yet again we are lucky in this society to be allowed to
Divorce. Divorce is not the answer. It is only another
chance to fail, if we have not repair what broke down the
first time around.

the trouble. Seek help before it is too late.

MIXED RACES AND RELIGIONS

Will interracial love stand
the Test of Time?
Our younger generation is now
growing up in Multicultural communities.
They are Discovering other cultural
backgrounds, and Getting a different
perspective on Prejudices, regardless
of the disapproval of Parents and
grandparents.
This diversity in culture creates fear
and defensive attitudes in older family
members who are striving to
protect their cultural traditions and values.
The fear that their children will begin to join
with those from different races, and create
Shrinking in their ethnic community. Interracial
dating creates potential challenges
that could destroy your relationship. Many
people disapprove of interracial mixing, so be
prepared for the worse. Shocked or negative
reactions from friends, relatives and from
certain public places may happen. You don’t
need to limit yourself to your own
culture when it comes to dating, but you
should be aware of possible difficulties that
may be faced before committing yourself.
Will Different Religions Stand the
Test of Time?
Dating someone of your own religious
background is less complicated. The family
celebrations and get-togethers are less tense
and more fun. Religion is another big issue
that tears families apart. While I cannot tell
you how and what to chose, it is important that
couples discuss how they will face the problems
that may arise.
Hiding or lying to your family and friends is not
the answer. If you need to hide your partner or
date from your family and friends the
partnership is doomed before it has begun.
Be truthful to family members. It saves a lot
of headaches and hurtful moments later.

SEX NOW OR LATER?

God created Sex so it must be a good thing!
Sex is meant to be a beautiful thing.
A state originally intended to be treasured
and share between a man and a wife.
Today things are different and sex is openly
shared, among the dating population.
Sometimes it even occurs on the first night.
Is this a wise move? How much can you know
about a person in one hour or even one night?
This chance can result in a serious health
risk or even death.
It has been proven over time that relationships
that begin with sex, fades within 2-3 years.
A relationship based on sex alone has no where
to grow. You have not taken the time to see
if you have any things in common besides sex.
Outside of the bedroom you have nothing
in common with each other and interests
fades.
Is it okay to have sex while dating?
Is your choice of time being taken from you?
Are you being pressure?
Is this love or a chance for your partner to
receive free sexual satisfaction?
The first time a woman gives away her
virginity should be one of the most enjoyable
moments of her life. Your Virginity should be
given willingly and without regret.
Any self-doubt that exists tarnishes that
memory for good. This is one gift that can
never be taken back or returned. It a decision
that regardless of the year, SHOULD NEVER
BE TAKEN LIGHTLY.
If you have made a conscious decision to give up
your virginity carelessly you must live with the
results. It take a very mature woman to make
this decision. Young girls talk to an adult and
know the risks before making an unheathy
decision.
***Unfortunately a forceful sexually encounter
robs a woman of that choice and the emotional
and relational damage stays with you for life.
If you have lost your virginity to RAPE, do not
be discouraged. You may have lost your virginity
but you can rest at ease that it was not given
carelessly and not by choice. Get help
immediately and never be ashamed. ***
IS HE OR SHE THE RIGHT ONE?
Is Your partner right for you?
This is a question we ask ourselves many times.
Is there a particular characteristic that stands
out like a sore? A funny feeling that just isn't
right?
The mothering woman who tucks in your shirt
and straightens your tie?
The excessivly groomed man who treats you like
a princess and out to impress the ladies?
The over emotional woman who is always crying?
Tissues are an expensive comodity and bulky to
always carry.
The man or woman who must always be the center
of it all. Wild gesterings and talking loudly.
The motormouths.
Men or women who demand your time, and absolute
attention. Who demands proof of your love constantly.
If you cannot be at peace with yourself how can this
relationship last?
Women and men who's interests include your
pocketbook and takes better care of your finances
than you do.
High maintenance women who insists you spend
money on them as proof of love and devotion.
Men who watch there money in an excessive way.
Being economical is good but not overly.
The man or woman who's job and career comes first.
Mama's boy whose life revolves around his mother.
The arguers who take little things and blows
them up.
Did you know that 93% of what people
communicate is shown through body
language and the tone of their voice?
This is a question we ask ourselves many times.
Is there a particular characteristic that stands
out like a sore? A funny feeling that just isn't
right?
The mothering woman who tucks in your shirt
