HANOI (Reuters) - Vietnamese police will formally charge
British glam rocker Gary Glitter with child molestation and
drop an additional charge of child rape, his Vietnamese
lawyer said on Monday.
Two girls, one under 13 years of age, had shown evidence
of sexual intercourse, but it was not clear with whom.
Glitter has denied allegations that he molested girls as
young as 12, insisting he was helping them with their
English.
The age of consent in the communist Southeast Asian
nation is 16.
Glitter could face up to 12 years in jail if found guilty
of engaging in sex acts with children.
